In Barcelona, the event season is not decided on the day of the event: it is decided three months earlier. A December party is booked in September, a charter contract is signed at the October boat show for the following season, and a team galette is ordered on 10 December. Here are the dates that shape the year, and when to deal with them.

We have been French caterers in Barcelona since 2017. This is the calendar we follow to plan our own production — we publish it because it is more useful open than filed away in a drawer.

Autumn: September to December

It is the densest season of the Barcelona year, and the one where space runs out fastest.

Early September — back to work. Return from holidays, arrival of new joiners, season kick-off. The welcome breakfast is the cheapest format to reopen the door. To be set up in late August.

11 September — the Diada. A public holiday in Catalonia. Not a commercial opportunity, but a gap in the delivery calendar to anticipate.

20 to 24 September — La Mercè. Barcelona's biggest festival. Many companies schedule their client event in that week.

6 to 8 October — Alimentaria FoodTech. The season's first trade show at the Fira.

14 to 18 October — Saló Nàutic, Port Vell. The boat show, with more room given to large vessels this year. This is where charter companies set their next season.

31 October and 1 November — Castanyada and Tots Sants. Chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets. A family celebration, but very present in Catalan offices.

2 to 5 November — Gastronomic Forum and Smart City Expo. Two major trade shows back to back.

17 to 19 November — IBTM World. The world trade show for event organisers, in Barcelona.

19 November — Beaujolais nouveau. The third Thursday of November. Almost untapped in Barcelona, even though the French community here is large.

First half of December — the year-end parties. The absolute peak. By then it is no longer the menu that decides, it is whichever date is still free.

The autumn rule: anything happening in December is booked in September or October. The menu can be changed in 48 hours, the date cannot be caught up on. If your team is flexible, a party in the first half of December — or even in January — leaves you far more choice, and it is often better attended than a date squeezed between two holiday departures.

Winter: January to March

A quiet season in appearance, but the one offering the easiest occasions.

5 and 6 January — Reyes. The roscón de reyes is a Catalan institution. On the French side, the galette des rois is eaten throughout January, which makes it the most convenient team-gathering excuse of the year.

January to March — calçot season. The calçotada remains the Catalan team building par excellence.

2 February — Chandeleur. Crêpes at the office: small budget, immediate effect, and instantly recognised as French.

February — seminars start again. The year's first real peak, before Easter.

8 March — International Women's Day. More and more companies organise an internal moment that day.

26 to 29 March 2027 — Easter and Semana Santa. A quiet week for companies, a peak for private clients and rented villas.

Spring: April to June

23 April — Sant Jordi. The book and the rose. Many Catalan companies offer their teams a moment that day; it is one of the most consensual dates of the year.

April — the charter season opens. The first outings at sea and the first aperitifs on board.

2 May 2027 — Día de la Madre. The first Sunday of May in Spain.

30 May 2027 — French Mother's Day. Four weeks later. Barcelona's French community celebrates on its own date, not on the host country's: these are two distinct occasions, not one.

May — incentives. The peak of seminars and team buildings before the summer.

23 and 24 June — the Revetlla de Sant Joan. The most celebrated night of the Barcelona year: bonfires, coca de Sant Joan, cava, the beach.

June — sign-offs and farewell drinks. End of the school year and often of the financial year: teams part for the summer.

Summer: July and August

The mix flips completely. Offices empty, boats and villas fill up.

14 July. The French community and the institutions based in Barcelona mark the date.

July and August — peak nautical season. Requests come in at 48 hours' notice, and weekends go first.

Last week of August — preparing the new season. The cycle starts again.

The five mismatches companies get wrong most often

It is not the big dates that cause problems, it is the mismatches between the two cultures that live side by side here.

Mother's Day falls twice, four weeks apart. A mixed French-Spanish team lives through both.

Epiphany does not last the same time. One day on the Catalan side, a whole month on the French side.

August is genuinely dead for B2B in Barcelona, far more than in France. Anything not settled by late July will wait until September.

Semana Santa moves every year and takes a whole week with it. In 2027 it falls in late March, a week earlier than in 2026.

Catalan long weekends are not French ones. The Diada, La Mercè and Sant Joan appear on no Paris head-office calendar.

How far in advance to act

What you are organising

When to act

Year-end party

September or October

Stand catering at a trade show

One to two weeks, earlier for access logistics

Multi-day seminar or convention

One month

Breakfast or coffee break

48 hours

Boat outing with catering

48 hours

Provisioning for a passage

Two weeks, the time to build the meal plan

In every case, a quote leaves our office within 48 working hours. What takes time is never the pricing: it is finding a date that is still free.

Going further

Depending on what you are preparing: the corporate caterer for seminars and business cocktails, the year-end party, the corporate breakfast to open a day, the external catering at Fira Barcelona for the trade show season, and yachting for everything that floats.

Trade show dates checked against the official Fira Barcelona calendar in July 2026; movable feasts calculated for 2026 and 2027. Programmes change: always check with the organiser before committing a budget.

L’article Le calendrier de la saison événementielle à Barcelone, 2026-2027 est apparu en premier sur Poc a Pots Catering Barcelona.

The sea turns from black to deep blue, then to rose. The Barcelona skyline slowly wakes in the distance. Aboard the private sailboat from the Neptuno fleet, time takes on a different weight. The kind of morning your guests will talk about for a long time.
